Lake Almanor
Lake Almanor is formed by a Pacific Gas & Electric dam at its southern end. With 52 miles of shoreline it is one of Northern California’s water paradises. The lake lies at 4,500 feet above sea level and is a sportsman’s delight. It offers some of the best year-round fishing in the state with plentiful salmon, bass, rainbow and German brown trout. Along the shoreline are numerous tributaries for fly and stream fishing. Boating, wind surfing, water and jet skiing or just lying on a raft are popular pastimes. The lake’s shallower depth means that it warms up in the summer, making it pleasant for swimming and other water activities.
