Trailhead is located in Plumas County. Nearby Lassen National Volcanic Park with its 11,000 foot peak is a recreational playground and sightseeing treasure. Golfers can choose from a number of quality courses including Bailey Creek, just across the road. The entire area is dotted with sparkling lakes and covered with dramatic forests. Lake Almanor is a place where every bend in the trail presents sweeping panoramas that capture the heart and takes one’s breath away. In the summer the lake is the attraction, and in winter there are plenty of outdoor activities with some of the best snowmobiling parks in the state a short drive away and a family-oriented ski hill at Stover Mountain.
Trailhead’s 4,500 foot elevation means its year-round climate is milder than most other Sierra environments. High temperatures in the summer are in the 70s and 80s and in the middle of winter average in the 40s. The area experiences considerable snowfall. Annual precipitation totals 33 inches on average. Every season at Trailhead offers special delights.
